As the Director of the IMA Lab, Charlie leads a team of developers and graphic designers who have become internationally recognized in the museum field as forward thinking in the application of open technologies to museum problems. The IMA Lab also provides consulting services for other museums, bringing its deep understanding of museum specific concerns and needs to the table. All projects, whether internal to or external from the IMA, adhere to our deep commitment to creating and distributing free and open source software solutions to the museum community. Charlie has been with the IMA for 5 years and is deeply involved in most all of the cross-institutional technology projects. Charlie has served as Software Manager for 3 IMLS National Leadership Grants. Notable projects the IMA has spearheaded include the Museum Dashboard (http://code.google.com/p/museum-dashboard/), TAP and TourML (http://code.google.com/p/tap-tours/) and ArtBabble (http://www.artbabble.org/). Before coming to the IMA Charlie was an Associate Researcher for the Scientific Data Analysis Lab, a Pervasive Technology Lab of Indiana University. While there, he worked on large-scale visualization and web service applications in the bioinformatics and life sciences realm. Charlie holds a M.S. in Computer Science from Indiana University.
