Bio:
I'm currently a program director at the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, focusing on Digital Information Technology and the Dissemination of Knowledge. Before this, I was Associate Director of Research Projects at the Center for History and New Media and then the first Director of Digital Strategy and Scholarship at the New York Public Library.
Degree-wise, my BA is in the History of Science, Medicine and Technology from the Johns Hopkins University, and both MA and PhD are from Cornell University's Department of Science & Technology Studies. I wrote a book on the early history of the consumer videocassette recorder and the invention of the video rental industry, and am otherwise very interested in the broad engagement of communities with information technology.
