I come to Linked Open Data through an interest in organizing historical and scholarly information of the Civil War era. I am the associate director of the Digital Scholarship Lab at the University of Richmond where I work with librarians and faculty to build projects in the humanities and social sciences. My dissertation through the University of Virginia’s History Department is an examination of how emancipation changed the way that men and women in the American South experienced space. Much of my research recently has been an attempt to think about how the unstructured data historians often use to build their narratives might be structured, made openly available, and linked to allow for spatial analysis.
